Turas Troimh Alba

Turas Troimh Alba (Gaelic for "Journey Through Scotland") is a beautiful collection of 170 color photographs with interesting, historical, and amusing text. The author/photographer/publisher spent four years in Scotland, initially on assignment with the U.S. Marine Corps and later as a bicycle tour guide. His travels, primarily on single-track roads and away from the main thoroughfares, present a delightful view of the country and its people not often encountered by most visitors. The quality of the photography is superb, as evidenced by the author's meeting with a senior editor at National Geographic magazine after she saw the book and was intrigued by it.
From the Borders to the Highlands, from the East Neuk to the Western Isles, Turas Troimh Alba is a journey to be enjoyed time and time again.

"I was very pleased indeed to have the chance to read and look at the wonderful photographs in your charming book of Scotland. You have successfully captured some exquisite rural scenes, many of which have come from my beloved Border country. I would highly recommend it to anyone as a delightful insight into Scotland and Scottish rural life and, in particular, the Border country."

"There are hundreds of picture books of Great Britain on the market, many of them large, glossy, coffee-table affairs, lavishly illustrated with full-colour photographs and descriptive captions. Of the many that have crossed my desk, Turas Troimh Alba: A Photographic Journey Through Scotland, photographed and written by T.R. Gordon, stands out from the rest. Like the other books, Gordon's is filled with evocative photographs of the idyllic countryside and picturesque villages and narrated by insightful text. But what sets his book apart is the personal element he lends to his work. The passion he feels for the Scottish country and people is evident; Turas Troimh Alba is a testimony of one American's love affair with Scotland."

-Leigh Anne Berry, Associate Editor
British Heritage magazine

"Turas Troimh Alba recounts the places he saw and the people he met as he wandered down single track roads and narrow pathways far from the main thoroughfares. The 170 color photographs in Mr. Gordon's book are both beautiful and memorable, and the accompanying captions are equally engaging."
